President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to help others.”

Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the government to pause refugee claims and cease providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
