Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
