Jennifer Lawrence States Speaking About Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ Tearing the Nation Apart

The star has revealed that she no longer feels appropriate to comment publicly countering the Trump administration, worried it could exacerbate unhelpful debate and deepen rifts within the country.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Explains the Actress

In a recent interview, she reflected, “During the first Trump administration, I thought I was acting frantically without clear direction. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars do not make a difference at all on electoral choices.”

She continued, “Why continue? I’m just expressing personal views on something that’s going to add fuel to a fire tearing the country apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has previously been open about supporting right and leftwing candidates throughout her life. Raised by conservative Republicans in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democrats and stating she recognized during the Obama era that voting Republican was opposing her personal freedoms as a female citizen.

Past Statements

Earlier in her career, she remarked that Trump winning the presidency might signal “the end of the world” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. During the most recent election, she voiced her backing to Kamala Harris, “because I think she’s a strong contender and I trust that she will make every effort to protect reproductive rights.”

Hollywood’s Stance

The star was aligned with numerous celebrities in her opposition to Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the minimal impact public figures have over the public choices was highlighted by his election win.

“This upcoming term feels different,” noted Lawrence about his administration. “Since he stated his intentions. We understood his record for his first term. He was transparent. And that’s the option selected.”

New Release

The actor is currently promoting the drama, Lynne Ramsay’s movie in which she plays a new mother who faces challenges with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. During a press conference for the project in the film festival, Lawrence commented on the conflict in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s mortifying. What’s occurring is nothing short of a genocide and it’s awful.”

Additional Thoughts

Lawrence added by stating that she was disappointed by “the lack of civility in the conversations of American politics right now and how that is going to be accepted to the younger generation right now. It’s going to be typical to them that leaders are untruthful.”

The actor attempted to refocus anger about the issue to policymakers rather than celebrities. “Keep attention on those accountable,” she remarked, which was interpreted as a nod to the then-recent pledge signed by more than 4,000 arts community members to refuse engagement with specific industry bodies.

Relatable Experiences

Jennifer Lawrence, who earned critical acclaim at a young age for her performance in the acclaimed film, is attracting awards attention for her portrayal in the new film. Even though Lynne Ramsay has denied the plot being understood as one of maternal mental health issues and mental illness, the actress revealed that she connected with parts of her film narrative after the delivery of her second son, soon after shooting ended.

“There was concern for my son,” she commented, “envisioning every worst-case scenario, and then doubting everything that I was trying. I was already in therapy, but I began using a treatment called Zurzuvae and I used it for 14 days and it really helped.”

Career Moments

Lawrence also mentioned of the freeing requirement of completing nude scenes in the film while she was some months pregnant and limited physically.

“It’s refreshing,” she commented, regarding the need to set aside self-consciousness. “I mean, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What technically are the differences between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
