Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and mayhem with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by introducing a new setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the nature of people through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, daring style to the audience.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
