"Adequate time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".

"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."

In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.

Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
